ISLAMIC, Persia (Pre-Seljuq). Qarakhanids (United). Yusuf ibn 'Abd Allah, AH 396-396 and AH 403-405 / AD 1004-1006 and AD 1012-1014. Fals (Bronze, 23 mm, 1.91 g, 3 h), al-Shash, AH 395 = 1004/5. The name Yūsuf in the center within two circles and a square; ‘lā ilāh-a illā Allāh waḥdahū lā sharīka lahū’ (‘There is no deity but Allah, the One, there is no partner to Him’ in Arabic) in the margin. Rev. ‘li-llāh / Muḥammad / rasūl / ʾAllāh’ (‘To Allah. Muhammad is the messenger of Allah’ in Arabic) in the field; mint and date in the margin. Album 3306A. Very rare. Minor edge chipping, otherwise, very fine.
